Editing Your Office Space

How can I make my office more productive? It’s the question forever on the lips of management teams around the world. Those who lead the way know that flexibility and mobility within the working space are the answer. The days of segmented areas where employees sit for hours at a desk typing away are a thing of the past; if that’s what you still see in your office, it’s time to change that, and fast.

The future is in flexible offices, and with three-quarters of UK employees favouring flexible work, it’s no surprise that many businesses are taking steps towards embracing a more collaborative and connected way of working. With higher morale comes higher levels of productivity.

Use Tech to Breed Mobility

Studies show that by 2020, 50% of the UK workforce are going to work remotely the only way to power this new emerging remote workforce is through tech. Further research conducted by HSBC confirms that 89% of employees believe that flexible working is the key to boosting productivity levels.

The future then lies in the remote powering of workforces. Technology already plays an intensely significant role in the way we work every day; that won’t stop. The importance of bespoke computing mobile and tablet technology alongside SaaS and other emerging services is undeniable. One step to take to ensure your office is productive is to give them the best tools in becoming mobile.

The Power of Choice

This point is especially prevalent in the younger, emerging workforces. The need to give employees choice and to allow them to become, to a reasonable extent, masters of their working destiny should be at the forefront of your thinking where productivity is concerned.

Pioneers of employee treatment, such as Google, allow flexible daily hours, alongside gyms on-premises, garden or terrace areas, and more. Working spaces like Google’s are on the rise. Flexible working spaces are set to grow by up to 30% annually for the next five years across Europe, according to property firm Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL).

Co-working spaces promoting collaboration in everyday tasks alongside hub spaces in smaller businesses are active ways companies are redesigning the way they work. The need for connectivity between departments and workforces is not to be underrated.

Offices of the Future

With the emergence of paperless offices and more innovative environments boosting employee morale, there’s no better time than now to give your office space a rethink. As well as these environments, which are becoming a place employees want to spend their time, flexibility must become a highly considered factor for every employer. These offices certainly are becoming places of inclusivity and productivity, and if research is to be believed, it won’t be long before the nine ‘til five static offices becomes history.
